Environment

Since 2015, Alquiber has implemented an Environmental Management System in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard, which offers the possibility of systematizing, in a simple way, the environmental aspects generated in each of the activities carried out in the organization, in addition to promoting environmental protection and pollution prevention from a point of view of balance with socioeconomic aspects, focusing our environmental policy on sustainable development.

Among other environmental advantages, it optimizes the management of resources and waste, reduces the negative environmental impacts derived from the activity or those risks associated with accidental situations.

Thus, we are aware of the social context, giving value to the requirements of the 2030 agenda on sustainable development goals and circular economy models, having a strategy aligned with the same criteria of decarbonization, digitalization and use of renewable energies.

Over the last few years, the company has developed campaigns to raise awareness and disseminate information on how to work in an environmentally friendly manner, which have been well received by employees. The involvement of all personnel is sought through individual and team responsibility, providing information through a specialized department. Monitoring is carried out to motivate continuous improvement, seeking to reduce energy consumption and optimize resources.

The commitment to Alquiber's internal environmental sustainability policies is extended to suppliers, involving them in it.

Alquiber seeks to achieve efficient consumption of water, energy and waste generation. We maintain our environmental policy plan to reduce them. Since 2020, printing is controlled by delegation, as a reference of digitalization, the control of the general index is maintained at similar values compared to the year 2021. Internally, we continue to carry out actions to raise awareness and reduce the use of paper. In addition to improving processes to include them in the digitalization. In 2022 we have installed Solar Panels for self-supply through the use of clean energies, starting with the facilities with the highest energy consumption index.

The renewal of the fleet is an advantage for the control of vehicle emissions, technological improvements in emissions and the obligations of the manufacturers lead the evolution to a continuous improvement. In 2022 the percentage of alternative fuel vehicles corresponds to 9.73%, while in 2021 the number of alternative vehicles was 7.77% of the total fleet, maintaining the dynamics of growth in vehicles of this class. It is significant the incorporation in 2022 of electric vehicles, which account for about 1% of the total fleet. To support the growth of the electric fleet, charging points will be incorporated in 2022 in 10 branches.

The CO2 emission rate per vehicle has undergone an increase of 5.19 points compared to the year 2021 , this is due to the fact that Regulation (EU) 2019/1242 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 has become effective, setting CO2 emission performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles and amending Regulations (EC) No 595/2009 and (EU) 2018/956 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Council Directive 96/53/EC, whereby emissions have increased for all vehicles registered from January 1, 2021.

The analysis of the environmental badges of the vehicles indicates an increase of 1.37% in ECO type vehicles, a decrease of 1.66% in C type vehicles and an increase of 0.29% in ZERO E type vehicles with respect to 2021. The growth in electric fleet in 2022 with respect to 2021 is 61.69%.

There are no provisions for risks and expenses or contingencies related to the protection and improvement of the environment.
